Respect for human rights is an essential value of Amansala Retreat and Wellness Center. Every effort is taken to respect and promote human rights. This is the focus in relationships with others including those in the communities in which presence operates, and is the foundation of the Human Rights Policy.

ARWC’s Policy aligns with a Code of Ethics covering diversity, environment, health and safety, and personal relations. ARWC is dedicated to the principles that all persons are to be treated respectfully.

Community Engagement

It is recognized that being part of the community may involve overlapping “communities.” ARWC is committed to associating with those who share similar values of integrity, fairness, honesty, and respect for all individuals. Where appropriate, communities are engaged on matters of human rights. The aim is to ensure through dialogue, and open and clear communication, that we are listening to, learning from, and considering those community views throughout all interactions. Addressing local issues are typically best resolved at the local level.

Respect for Human Rights

ARWC recognizes the importance of maintaining and promoting the fundamental human rights of by operating under programs and policies that:

  • Promote a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.

  • Prohibit child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.

  • Provide fair and equitable compensation in accordance with local laws.

  • Provide safe working conditions.

  • Recognize other’s rights to freedom of association.

Discrimination and Harassment

Everyone has the right to be treated fairly and deserves a comfortable and safe environment. ARWC prohibits discrimination based on age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, disability, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military service, or other characteristic protected by law.

Everyone has the right to be present without fear or intimidation. ARWC refuses to tolerate abusive conduct or harassment – a policy made clear from the first day of orientation. ARWC representatives and partners are expected to report situations that compromise their ability to fulfill expectations. Formal channels are available for those who seek advice or a solution, and policies strictly prohibit retaliation against others who express concerns. Operations are managed so that guests feel they are being treated fairly and respectfully.

Diversity and Inclusion

ARWC is committed to be a high-performing organization built on the foundation of a diverse and inclusive culture, with individuals and teams working to blend a wide range of talents, preferences and perspectives in pursuit of shared purposes. Guests are expected to be open to dialogue and tolerant of others’ differences and to participate in open and honest communication as well as assuming the positive intent of others as represented by their acts or actions.

Forced Labor and Human Trafficking

ARWC will not use slave or involuntary labor, whether bonded, prison, military, compulsory or indentured labor, including debt servitude or human trafficking with respect to any aspect of its operations.

Child Labor

ARWC guests and partners will not involve child labor, consistent with the principals relevant to US, Canadian and international laws. Specifically, the ARWC prohibits the hiring of individuals under the age of seventeen (17) or the local legal minimum working age or the compulsory schooling age, whichever is higher.

Freedom of Association

The respect of others’ right to form and join, or not to join, a groups and organizations without fear of reprisal, intimidation or harassment is present here. The commitment to establishing a constructive dialogue with their freely chosen representatives is recognized. Experience has shown open communication and a forum which allows others to bring concerns, suggestions and ideas forward produces improved methods, safety, products, operations and efficiencies which will promote continued growth and prosperity for all guests and partners.

Workplace Safety

Globally, there is a commitment to providing spaces that are among the safest facilities. The policy is to provide a safe and healthy space and comply with applicable safety and health laws and regulations as well as internal requirements. Much effort is invested to provide and maintain a safe, healthy and productive space, in consultation with our partners, by addressing and remediating identified risks of accidents, injury and health impacts.

Workplace Security

ARWC prohibits violence, harassment, intimidation and other unsafe or disruptive conditions due to internal or external threats.

Working Hours, Wages, and Benefits

ARWC has no employees and therefore compensation is of no consequence. In the event ARWC has employees, employees could be compensated competitively relative to the industry and local labor markets. 

Guidance and Reporting for Employees

Striving to create space in which open and honest communication among all guests is valued and respected is ARWC’s goal. ARWC is committed to complying with applicable labor and employment laws in all operations. Additionally, we work to achieve full engagement as the foundation of mutual success; strive to create a culture that champions respect and inclusion; and implement clear and concise health and safety practices.

Any guest who thinks a conflict exists or has come to exist between the language of this policy and the laws, customs and practices of the space he or she occupies, or who would like to confidentially report a potential violation of this policy may raise those questions and concerns with his or her host or facilitator.
